Augusta University Health offers adult and adolescent outpatient physical therapy in Augusta, Georgia.
Our Approach
Physical Therapy (PT) is an important part of rehabilitative care. AU Health's PTs offer compassionate, high-quality care, backed by the latest rehabilitation and movement research, to help you get back to your daily activities as quickly and safely as possible.
We recognize that incorporating family and friends into your rehabilitation program can help you recover faster and stronger, so every effort is made to include these important people in your recovery routine.

Referrals to AU Health's outpatient physical therapy
Outside referrals: We accept referrals from community physicians (MD or DO), nurse practitioners, and physician assistants and will work to maintain a close relationship with your health care provider.

About Us
Our occupational therapy (OT) department offers expertise in the areas of activities of daily living across the age spectrum. Our therapists evaluate and treat infants, children, adults and geriatric adults who have physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, cognitive problems or psychological issues that limit their ability to efficiently complete their work, school, self-care and leisure activities. This list can include:
- People with work related injuries
- People who have had stroke or other neurology incident
- People with arthritis, multiple sclerosis or other serious illness
- Children with birth injuries, learning problems or developmental disabilities
- People with mental health problems
- People with substance abuse problems
- People with burns, spinal cord injuries or amputations
Our Approach
Physical therapists specialize in developing and re-training muscle strength and flexibility for movement. Our therapists evaluate and treat babies in the, infants and pediatrics in the Children's Hospital of Georgia and adults of all ages in the main hospital. They are highly skilled in dealing with traumas as well as minor injuries or conditions. The PT staff has specialized skills in wound care, balance disorders, serial casting and splinting and lymphedema management.
For our patients, regardless of age or diagnosis, this means help is available in fall prevention movement:
- In bed, wheelchair or walking
- Sitting or standing balance
- Non-healing ulcers
- Post mastectomy exercises
- Post amputation care
- Help with assistive devices such as canes, walkers and wheelchairs
Did You Know?
Physical therapy provides 7 days/week coverage for inpatients and is available for outpatient treatments Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
